Taking on creative outlets has always been a huge part of what brings me joy. I love trying a challenging new recipe, dabbling in tactile mediums like knitting and sewing, and exploring photography adjacent arts like video production (hello sound design!!). No matter the medium, the strong desire to create was surely god given. Like many photographers, I've been toting around a camera since childhood and promptly selected photography as my elective in high school (I sure do miss the darkroom!). In 2013 I discovered a love for family and children portraits. Creating community and relationships with families, embracing the challenges of working with young children, and capturing the essence of the family and innocence of the children was very fulfilling. As time went on I realized that a creative pivot was in order and made the decision to offer family portraits which are centered in the home. My creative fire is ignited by the combination of capturing authentic family moments in the comfort of their own home and the uniqueness each session offers. No one location, nor family is exactly the same; it's a satisfying challenge and bounty of creativity!
Fulfilling the role of a wife and mother is a coveted experience that only continues to grow on my heart as time passes me by. It's offered me a new vantage point in what it means to experience those treasured in-between moments. But, it wasn't until I had my first-born that I truly got to experience the sacredness and intimacy the home holds for a family. There's an abundance of memories and intimate moments created in the home as the family grows. I can remember the exact spot where I labored and was comforted by my husband and doula, I know exactly how the sun shines in through my daughters window in the morning and kisses her precious cheeks and lights up her beautiful green eyes, and "this" is the exact spot I stand while doing the dishes and receive a hug from my husband every single day. The beautiful, heart-led, in-between moments are unfolding in the home each and every day, and I've become truly passionate about preserving those genuine moments for myself and others so they can be admired and adored by the generations to come.
